Warm horn melodies, tumbling block percussion, heartbeat kick drums, and effected field recording backgrounds move through the Variables EP. All three tracks are derived from the same sound sources, initially used on Variable 1, and then repurposed in a more improvised, live performance approach for Variables 2 and 3.

Variable 2 removes the kick and plays with shorter loops of fragmented horns from the original, providing a wide-open landscape, further processed and sprawling.

Variable 3 balances with added percussion and broken horn phrases, nodding towards early morning techno and walking around the city.

The Variables paintings complement the music as thirty-three different covers - hand-numbered on the back - an art object that offers a physical counterpart to the digital music release. Similar to the tracks using the same sound sources, the Variables paintings use the same constraints and approach, resulting in thirty-three individual works that are connected by a visual and tonal thread - abstractions using white and red acrylic paint on a 12” x 12” wood panel.

Purchase of a Variable painting includes a download code for the music. The EP is also currently available as a stand-alone digital download from Bandcamp and will be available in additional streaming/download services in June 2026.
